2023-24 STU CCAA Academic All-Canadians
Fredericton, NB – St. Thomas University Athletics proudly announces the outstanding achievement of eight student-athletes who have been recognized as 2023–24 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Academic All-Canadians. This prestigious award honors individuals who have demonstrated excellence in both academics and athletics, showcasing the remarkable dedication and talent of student-athletes across Canada.
The CCAA Academic All-Canadian Award is bestowed upon individuals who have achieved an honours standing in academics while exhibiting elite athletic prowess. This year, St. Thomas University is thrilled to commend the following student-athletes for their outstanding achievements:
- Samuel Choiniere, Soccer
- Luke Ewen, Soccer
- Laurent Lambert, Soccer
- Aidan Lavery, Soccer
- Paige Leblanc, Basketball
- Josh Oakes, Soccer
- Caitlyn Steeves, Soccer
- Mees Van Nouhuys, Soccer
Each of these individuals has demonstrated a remarkable commitment to both their studies and their sport, embodying the values of excellence, dedication, and perseverance that define the student-athlete experience at St. Thomas University. Of particular note are the Academic All-Canadians from the STU Men’s Soccer Team. Across the country, no team had more and only one team had as many.
"We are incredibly proud of this exceptional accomplishment by these eight student-athletes," said Meaghan Donahue Wies, Director of Athletics at St. Thomas University. "Excelling both academically and athletically is no small feat, and it is amazing to see our Tommies achieve in both areas."
“Being on the Men's Soccer team improved my time management abilities by teaching me how to manage the demanding training schedule with schoolwork,” said Josh Oakes, this year’s CCAA Men’s Soccer Player of the Year. “Resilience and goal setting in my studies are an outcome of the focus and teamwork needed on the field. It has also given me motivation, which has improved my overall academic performance.”
