Recruit Alert
Although landing on St. Thomas campus in January of 2024, newcomer Shreyansh Choudhary will don the Green & Gold in the ACAA for the first time this upcoming season with the STU Tommies.
The former Rajasthan United FC member is excited to join the St. Thomas Men's Soccer team under the tutelage of Coach John-Ryan Morrison, who is heading into his 9th season.
"The entire team has been so welcoming, the bonding that i have created with all players is the enjoyment that i look forward to every time," said Shrey.
The winger from Jaipur, India wants to bring a wealth of experience, determination, and ability to work well with the team on the field.
"My goals for the fall would include working hard towards my personal growth in soccer and win the league and nationals with the squad," he added "On top of that, I am going to focus on achieving a high academic standard set by coach JR."
Coach John-Ryan Morrison knows what he's getting from Choudhary, as the recruit is currently playing for the Picaroons Reds Senior team in Fredericton this summer.
"Shrey is going to be a great addition to the program. He impressed with us all winter and has been playing some great soccer with the Reds so far this spring," said Coach Morrison.
Tactically, the team continues to build a championship squad after back-to-back undefeated ACAA regular seasons. Having trained with the Winter squad, he's gotten the opportunity to gel with his teammates already.
"He can play both wings, strikes the ball well, is a tough tackler and puts the work in defensively," added the bench boss. "His maturity throughout his extended trial is something you don't get with most first years plus he has settled in well with the boys and our team dynamic is something that is important to our program."
Shrey is the latest addition to the Men's Soccer team for the 2023-2024 season after the announcements of Mees van Noohuys, Brady Chapman, Kiran Hollman Prichard, Laurent Lambert, Oliver Altemeyer, and Bright Olaonis.
The 2023 ACAA Soccer schedule will be announced in June, with Season Passes on sale in August and training camp opening in late August for the STU Soccer teams.
