Leading Striker Brett Returns to STU: Focused on Excellence in Education and Soccer Sucess
Fredericton,NB — St. Thomas University is thrilled to announce the return of Brett Springer, a striker from Bamberg, Ontario that left an important mark at STU. Brett is a talented player who brings leadership, goals, and a strong work ethic to the program. Returning to STU with the aim of winning Nationals, Brett's commitment to both academic and athletic excellence makes him a valuable addition to the team.
As a former player for FC Berlin in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) and Ontario Tech University, Brett has demonstrated exceptional skills. For Ontario Tech, which was his latest team last season, Brett appeared in 12 regular season games, making 5 starts. He recorded 10 goals, 1 assist and was named OUA East Division Second Team All-Star.
Brett is eager to bring his leadership and goal-scoring prowess once again to the Tommies, contributing to both the team's performance on the field and its culture of hard work and dedication.
When asked why he chose to come back to St. Thomas University, Brett shared, "I chose St. Thomas University to obtain my Bachelor of Education and to win Nationals. The opportunity to excel both academically and athletically is something I am very excited about. Finishing my university soccer career at STU allows me to not only go to one of the best Bachelor of Education programs in Canada but also to be part of the best soccer program in the nation as well," said Brett. "This dual commitment to academic and athletic excellence is important to me."
Brett's looking forward to reconnecting with the team and has some personal goals as well. He plans to lead the ACAA in goals, help create chances for his teammates to get on the scoresheet as well, and finish his school soccer career with a CCAA national title.
Coach JR's Thoughts on Brett's Return
"The magnitude of this signing cannot be understated," said Coach JR. "Brett is one of the top strikers in the country, and I am excited to share that he is coming back to his second home. His goal-scoring rate and personal awards have been well documented, but it's his competitiveness in training, professionalism, and contributions in the classroom and on campus that others don't see that make him such a special student-athlete. The fact that we've added one of the best strikers in the history of the league to a team that scored 49 goals in 12 regular season games last season should lead to a few sleepless nights across the league."
