Men’s Soccer Adds High-Intensity Midfielder from Ontario
Fredericton, NB — Tommies men’s soccer program is proud to announce the addition of Jacob Goodine, an exciting new recruit from Oshawa, Ontario, ahead of the 2025 season.
Goodine, a dynamic central attacking and defensive midfielder (CAM/CDM), developed his skills with Monsignor Paul Dwyer Catholic High School and Dero TFC, bringing a sharp tactical edge and versatility to the Tommies’ midfield.
“I’m looking to bring a high intensity to the league, playing possession football and moving the ball quickly and dangerously through the midfield,” Goodine said.
Goodine’s decision to join St. Thomas is deeply rooted in both personal and academic alignment.
“My family is from New Brunswick, and I feel STU is the best decision for me academically and personally,” he shared. “My academic interests lie in Law, Politics, and Society.”
Off the field, Goodine is equally driven. He is the founder and manager of his own clothing brand and remains active in his local community by coaching and mentoring youth at his former club.
With STU ranked 4th in Canada last season, Goodine is excited to join one of the most competitive and fast-rising programs in the country.
“Being part of a program that’s one of the best out east, I feel my personal growth as a player will skyrocket,” he said. “After speaking with Coach Pinsent, I’m excited for the style of football he’s bringing and the high standards he sets for intensity and commitment.”
The STU Tommies men’s soccer program continues to build on its strong foundation with the addition of student-athletes like Goodine, who bring not only talent but also passion and vision for the game.
