Women's Cross Country Adds Caitlyn Diachuk as their First Recruit for Next Fall
Fredericton, NB — St. Thomas University Women’s Cross Country is thrilled to welcome Caitlyn Diachuk from Hartland, New Brunswick, as the newest addition to the 2024-25 roster.
A proud product of the Hartland Huskies Cross Country team, Caitlyn brings a strong team-first mindset to the Tommies program. She is known for her rapid development and dedication.
"While I still have a lot to improve on as a runner, I believe I’ll be a strong addition to STU’s team by offering another point of support for my teammates," Caitlyn said. "I thrive best in positive team environments, and I always try to bring that energy to practices and races to help inspire growth in others."
Choosing St. Thomas was an easy decision for Caitlyn, who valued the opportunity to stay close to family while pursuing her academic and athletic goals.
"I chose STU because it allows me to study near home and be part of a university cross country team. I love Fredericton — it’s a beautiful city — and I’m so excited to call it home for the next four years."
Caitlyn plans to study Psychology as part of her Bachelor of Arts, while also exploring courses in Biology with the goal of eventually pursuing a career in law or psychology. Off the course, she has been an active leader and participant at Hartland Community School, serving on the Grad Executive, Student Council, and International Citizenship and Understanding Club, while also playing volleyball and competing in track and field.
Head Coach Nick Larade is excited about what Caitlyn brings to the team, praising her positivity, work ethic, and enthusiasm for development.
"Coach Nick has been amazing with outreach and support,". "I know running with STU will help me unlock more of my potential, and I’m really looking forward to training in an environment with so many resources, like the fitness centre and access to a physiotherapist."
As she prepares for the upcoming season, Caitlyn is currently training for the 800m and 3000m events with Hartland’s Track and Field team, setting the foundation for a strong transition to university cross country competition this fall.
